and this is the moment I realized I’d
probably be the last person to ever
paddle down the Colorado River to the
Sea I’m National Geographic Explorer
Pete McBride I love the Colorado because
I consider it my backyard River it’s
actually the backyard River for tens of
millions of people since it flows 1450
miles through seven states and parts of
Mexico it also supplies drinking water
for 40 million over the years I’ve
floated and documented every region of
the river I’ve also hiked over a
thousand miles along its banks I’ve had
many remarkable Adventures between the
river’s source to its end however I’m
sad to say source to see Adventures like
those might be a thing of the past when
I last tried to paddle the Colorado I
found that I couldn’t reach the sea
because the river is drying up due to
severe Mega drought and a changing
climate
