so now that Donald Trump has been reelected president what is going to happen to his criminal cases in August 2023 Trump was charged by special Council Jack Smith with trying to overturn his loss in the 2020 election and inspiring a riot at the US capital the case was amended after the Supreme Court immunity decision Smith pressed ahead with the case but after the election a judge canel all upcoming deadlines Trump was also charged by Smith last year with willfully retaining dozens of National Security documents and obstructing efforts to get them back a trump appointed judge in Florida dismissed the case earlier this year but the justice department has appealed seeking to revive it now after Trump’s election it’s unlikely the appeals court will ever get a chance to act last year in Georgia Fulton County district attorney fonny Willis charged Trump and more than a dozen others with attempting to overturn his 2020 election loss while the US president has no direct control over State prosecutors Trump’s lawyers are preparing to seek dismissal arguing that it shouldn’t move ahead because he is returning to the White House in May the former president was found guilty on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records to hide a hush money payment before the 2016 election Trump is currently scheduled to be sentenced on November 26th a judge on November 12th gave both sides until November 19th to argue what should happen to the case now the judge also delayed ruling on Trump’s request for a new trial in light of the Supreme Court’s Landmark immunity ruling
