the prosecutors who secured Donald Trump’s criminal conviction earlier this year now face a dilemma what to do about the rest of the case now that he has been elected president so Trump was convicted back in May on 34 felony counts of covering up hush Money Paid to a porn star but he has not yet been sentenced he was initially set to be sentenced on November 26th when he could have faced up to four years behind bars but in light of his upcoming inauguration the prosecutors asked the judge from time to figure out where the case could go from here they noted that there were uh competing interests between making sure a criminal case proceeds as normal and to protect the office of the presidency so a judge has given them until Tuesday to propose options experts said they might suggest a sentence of no jail time or postponing his sentencing potentially indefinitely
