just made it through security it was like TSA on steroids get ready with me as I cover the Democratic National Convention in Chicago for Reuters while the planning started about half a year in advance the physical prep starts early in the morning getting about half a dozen gizmos and gadgets charged and packed up for a digital coverage there’s a DNC shuttle that goes directly to the United Center but it stopped running I Uber to the DNC and the traffic was so insane it might have been faster to walk we had to apply for credentials with the US Secret Service just to get inside though the pro Palestinian protests were significantly smaller than expected police detained a handful of protesters who breached the secure side of the fence now the fun part finding my way around this enormous Arena I have never been this close to the Beast luckily I snag a ride with someone on a golf cart who tells me how to get in using one of my six credentials this is just day one of four we’ll be sure to bring you the latest from the delegates floor all week
