the 33rd Olympiad just closed with a bang in Paris after years of planning Paris put together a games where unlike many host cities Paris has promised to make use of already existing infrastructure instead of constructing entirely new venues one area in Paris is getting a large portion of the budget s sandini French officials hope to regenerate the northeastern suburb as it receives about 80% of Solo’s budget the public sector organization task with delivering the Olympic facilities if this strategy seems familiar it is this is like what London did for the 2012 Olympics when a lot of money was funneled into Stratford the Eastern suburb where we are now this structure the London Stadium and all the park around it were built for the 2012 Olympics straford did not always look like this before the Olympics the park was a heavily polluted place and the rivers were full of rubbish one of the area’s major landmarks was fridge Mountain a 20ft pile of old fridges which had been dumped here the change has been astounding 12,000 people now live in the park and by next year it’s predicted that 40,000 people will work here a new cultural quarter called East Bank is opening in stages which will have galleries theaters and more but there have been concerns about the finances of the project with large debts taken out by public authorities to fund it after the Olympics and Par Olympics in Paris it’s time for the city to turn its attention to the legacy of the games hopefully they might be able to take some lessons from London’s experience
