AP photojournalist captures triathlon from the Seine for Paris Olympics 🀩

play-rounded-fill

this was my third Olympics where I covered either the triathlon or the marathon swim where you’re actually swimming you’re floating uh staying in place and you’re shooting with a water housing what made this year very different and very challenging was not so much the cleanliness of the river which I know everybody was talking about but the send River has a very very strong current so I brought my longer set of fins and my right hand here was attached by a leash to the water housing so if it did get out of my hands it wouldn’t float down the river my left hand was attached by a rope to a guy standing on the dock to make sure that I didn’t FL down the river my left hand is getting pulled while I’m trying to focus with this hand then I’m kicking furiously to stay in position and then if I’m trying to do a split level where part is underwater I’m holding my breath and looking through the viewfinder it was very difficult and very strenuous but I think it turned out all right and it was a lot of fun so if you get to go for a swim in the middle of your work day it’s not a bad day’s work even if it is in this River
