mark is set go okay good job go back now should I make it a little more difficult for oh it is impossible for him to make it there and give me a high five without touching the floor now I know his heart he’ll try but it’s not possible for him to do so so let’s unpack this for a second fellas him giving me a high five is his long-term goal want to make it to the league right want to get that big house and that beautiful family you talked about but those pieces of paper represent your shortterm goals so in other words you want to go to the league first I got to make my middle school team shortterm goal then I got to make my high school team shortterm goal then I got to get into college shortterm goal and then I play really well and I’m Mak it to the lead high five but what happens when you start to remove those shortterm goals gets harder gets harder and eventually if you remove them all it makes it impossible for you to reach a long-term goal so stop telling me about what you want to do and show me to work see y’all want to go to the league but are you putting in the work in the classroom right now y’all want that beautiful house in that beautiful car you want that fine wife and all of these beautiful children and and you want this prestigious job but fellas are you putting in the work right now because without those shortterm goals it’ll be impossible for you to reach a longterm goal everybody got it mm let’s talk about it a little more have a seat
