I’m here at the port in Providence Rhode Island where a large offshore wind ship is docked it’s a floating hotel for workers who are building an offshore wind farm out at Sea the ship is named the echo Edison and it’s being used to take workers out to sea to build an offshore wind farm called Revolution wind ECHO Edison will soon set sail from Providence to return to the project site which is about 15 Mi south of the coast while workers build a wind farm they will stay on the ship and enjoy its state rooms gym and cinema this is the first vessel of its kind built in the United States Revolution wind the offshore Wind Farm being built by orad and eversource is key to meeting the nation’s climate goals when this wind farm opens in 2026 it will provide enough clean power for 350,000 homes in Rhode Island in Connecticut the ship will then be used for workers building and maintaining other offshore wind farms throughout the Northeast
