you feel beat down like you can’t come back from it you feel like this could be the end of of things as you knew it you know of your town for the third time in 13 months Florida’s Big Bend took a direct hit from a hurricane first by Category 3 hurricane Adalia in August 2023 then category 1 hurricane Debbie in August 2024 and now helain just haven’t had time to get over i d you Debbie and now it’s just a this just compounds all of that the back toback hits in the area are forcing residents to reckon with the true cost of living in a place under siege by storms that researchers say are becoming stronger because of climate change residents in a financially hard spot are left with few choices leave the community pay to rebuild or find alternative ways to live we’re so close to where they say the golden years it’s like you can see the light and then it all goes dark
