for years we’ve been investigating the problems surrounding South Korea’s adoption program which sent about 200,000 children to the United States and other Western nations in the past seven decades together with my colleague Claire galofaro we focused on constructing a detailed picture of how South Korea’s government Western Nations and adoption agencies worked in tandem to satisfy the intense demand for babies in the west these adoptions proceeded despite years of evidence that children were being procured through questionable or downright dishonest means and child or religions were being manipulated to make more children eligible for adoption in the west we also found that Western governments ignore these widespread fraud and dubious practices and sometimes pressured Korea to keep the kids coming thousands of Korean adoptees have returned to Korea as adults in recent years to search for their roots and some have discovered that they are not who they were told
