2 Canadians being ‘sent home immediately,’ removed from Olympic team after drone incident

Canadian Olympic Team rocked by drone incident: Two athletes sent home immediately

The Canadian Olympic team has been dealt a significant blow just days before the start of the Winter Games in Beijing, China. Two Canadian athletes, whose identities have not been released, have been sent home immediately after a drone incident at the Olympic Village.

According to reports, the two athletes were involved in an altercation with a drone operator at the Olympic Village, which resulted in the drone crashing into a nearby building. The incident occurred on February 2, just hours after the Canadian team arrived in Beijing.

"We are extremely disappointed and saddened by the actions of these two athletes," said Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) CEO, David Shoemaker. "Their behavior is unacceptable and does not align with the values of the Olympic movement or the values of our team. As a result, we have made the decision to send them home immediately."

The COC has not released any further details about the incident, but sources close to the team have confirmed that the two athletes were involved in a heated argument with the drone operator, which escalated into a physical altercation.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the Canadian Olympic community, with many athletes and coaches expressing their disappointment and frustration.

"This is a huge setback for our team," said Canadian hockey player, Hayley Wickenheiser. "We work so hard to get to the Olympics and to have two of our teammates sent home like this is devastating. We need to focus on our training and our competition, not on drama and distractions."

The Canadian Olympic team is still reeling from the news, but they are determined to put the incident behind them and focus on their goal of winning medals in Beijing.

"We are a strong and resilient team, and we will not let this incident define us," said Canadian Olympic coach, Mike Babcock. "We will move forward and focus on our training and our competition. We are excited to get started and to make Canada proud."

The incident has also raised questions about the safety and security of the Olympic Village, with many athletes and officials expressing concerns about the presence of drones in the area.

"This is a serious incident and we need to take it seriously," said International Olympic Committee (IOC) President, Thomas Bach. "We will be conducting a thorough investigation into the incident and taking all necessary steps to ensure the safety and security of our athletes and officials."

The Canadian Olympic team is scheduled to compete in the Winter Games, which begin on February 4. Despite the setback, they are determined to make a strong showing and bring home medals for Canada.
