video
play-rounded-fill

Australians under the age of 16 will be banned from popular social media sites such as Instagram and Tik Tok under new laws which were passed by the parliament it’s one of the strictest actions by a government globally to crack down on social harms caused by Tech Giants but there are big questions over how it’s going to actually work with this sort of U new Draconian laws and there’ll be severe penalties for the platforms if they don’t enforce it um you know they’re going to have to get compliance up to you know 100% And that is that can be very hard to do on platforms of this scale under the new laws which won’t come into effect for about a year anyone aged under 16 will be banned from creating an account on major social media platforms the government says their ban will help protect parents and children from a growing Mental Health crisis and a wave of misinformation this is about protecting young people not punishing or isolating them and letting parents know where in their Corner when it comes to supporting their children’s health and well-being there’s nothing exactly in the laws over how this ban will work but if tech Giants don’t take it seriously they could face fines of up to $32 million a lot of lawmakers in Australia have said these bills have been rushed through without enough scrutiny tech companies themselves have called them unlawful and unworkable one survey by ugab found more than 75% of Australian voters were in favor of banning children from social media
