CrowdStrike broke Debian and Rocky Linux months ago, but no one noticed

Hidden Concern: CrowdStrike’s Compatibility Issue Threatens Security

In late 2022, popular security software supplier CrowdStrike announced updates to their monitoring and protection suites, boasting stronger defenses against the growing number of threat actors and hackers. Among the affected platforms was a trio of relatively popular Linux distributions, namely Debian and their Rocky Linux offshoot. As this article will expose, it had serious implications that may have flown largely under the radar until now.

To reiterate, back in a quiet quarter (around month 3), the issue, it seems, has existed. According to security watchdogs the issue persists but isn’t as if ‘crowddstrike broke rocky 2 days back,’ an understatement but rather quietly since (Q1); a problem since when users should take cognizant notice that might seem it has long occurred unnoticed but will not get discussed at lengths.
