pet owners don’t usually get much attention from politicians that is until this year when comments from JD Vance about childless cat ladies briefly created a pet Centric campaign issue according to AP vot cast a survey of more than 120,000 voters about 2third of Voters said they own either a cat or a dog Donald Trump won more than half of Voters who own either cats or dogs with a big assist from dog owners dog owners were much more likely to support Trump over kamla Harris while cat owners were about evenly split between the two candidates Harris decisively won women who own a cat but no dog but those voters were a relatively small slice of the electorate and pet owners as a whole did not seem to hold Vance’s remarks against the Republican Presidential ticket even though the leadup to the 2024 election was all about cat owners in the end the dogs had their day
