hi everyone kevin here today i want to show you how you can light a youtube video using gvm leds right now i’m just using the overhead light in my room and using gvm led lights you can make it look like this whoa look at that difference this looks so much better when you light the scene properly you could have a fantastic camera but if you don’t like the scene properly it’s just not going to look that good as an example if you go to my channel and you click on the videos tab and you sort from oldest to newest you could see where i started with my videos and i was guilty of this i had a great camera i just didn’t know how to light my scenes and i got output that looked like this when i go back and watch that it just makes me cringe today we’re gonna walk through how you can use lighting from gvm to make your scenes look so much better now you might be wondering why are we talking about gvm lights what’s so special about them when you go to a website like bnh b h is one of the largest suppliers of photo and video gear and you search for led light panels gvm essentially owns the charts for the best selling lights here we’ll go down the list and you see gvm popping up everywhere on the top list and there’s a good reason why you get extremely good value here’s an example they have a three video light kit for 349 dollars in fact you can even get three lights for under 300 still i have a lot of lights at home why can’t i just use those it turns out that most of the lights you have at home are considered warm white what that means is they have more of a yellowish hue or tint to them the reason why lights at home are more yellowish is because it has a warmer feel to it unfortunately though that color doesn’t work so well for video the human eye is more attuned to daylight and seeing faces that are lit by daylight and that has a cooler color to it these led light panels can reproduce daylight very well leading to a more natural looking video i was in the market for getting new lights for my studio i originally had two lights but i wanted to create a four point lighting system so i was in the market for two more additional lights when i was doing my research gvm was at the top of my list because they are one of the best sellers and they have such good value for their lights my luck gvm reached out and they offered me two free lights so what do you think i said well of course i accepted them and i’ve now integrated them into my studio system gvm sent me the 50rs rgb lights you could get a two light kit for 400. they also have a three light kit for 600 maybe once my youtube channel grows a little bit more they’ll offer me one of the higher priced kits we’ll see what happens so these lights the difference between these and then some of the cheaper lights that we saw on the b h website these are a little bit bigger so you get a little bit more output but in terms of a lot of the functionality like being able to show colors and also being able to run different lighting modes those are similar across the different models what do you actually get with one of these lighting kits well you get a few different items first off you get a nice carrying case that contains all of the light setup you also get some included stands so you could elevate your lights so you could place them high you could place them low you get the led light panel itself it includes barn doors so you can control where the light shines this way you won’t have light spilling into areas where you don’t want that light to appear you get power adapters and then it also includes diffusers what a diffuser helps do is it makes the light a little bit softer and not quite as harsh there are two different ways that you can attach these lights to the stand you could simply place it on top or you could place it perpendicular to the stand and that gives you a little bit more range of motion for the led light this video is titled how do you light a youtube video and i want to show a few different ways that you can light your youtube video i have a two light kit so i’m going to show you how you can light your video just using two lights in this example i have my key light over to my left the key light is the primary light and that’s going to be the brightest light of the set and you can see that’s illuminating my left hand side of my face and then i have my right hand side of my face and it’s a little bit darker i’m using the fill lights to fill in some of those shadows on the right hand side of my face so i’m just using two lights to do this each light is at a 45 degree angle to me from the camera now one of the nice things about these lights is they are bi-color right now i have them set to 5500 kelvin which is more of a cooler color or closer to daylight but through the app i could control these lights so here for instance i could slide this slider and i can make the lighting a little bit warmer so it’s a little bit more yellowish if that’s the feeling that i want to communicate in my video or here i could simply move the slider up and i can make it a little bit cooler again or more natural or daylight looking now one thing that i love about these led panels is you’re not just eliminated to buy color where you go warm and cool you can also set rgb colors what i’ve done now is i simply have one light as my key light that’s illuminating this side of my face and i’m using a reflector to fill in some of those shadows on the other side of my face so where did the second light go well it’s going to illuminate the background let’s switch it on and see what that looks like look at that cool effect i can now have a color in back of me and through the app i can adjust the color to whatever color i want and check that out behind me the color is just changing you can do these as well with the gvm 50rs led lights what’s cool about these gvm lights is you can also set different lighting scenes they have eight different scenes i’ll show you a few of them to show what you can do when you’re recording your video let’s start with candle here’s a cool one called candle where you could kind of have a fireside chat how’s that is that kind of cool you see the light kind of flickering in the back of me here we could also have some fun this is what we do at the kevin youtube channel once a day wraps up we could have a party now this was just a quick example of how you can use a pretty inexpensive lighting kit to greatly improve the quality of your videos in this example i had a gvm 50 rs rgb light but there are other lighting kits as well that you can use and i’m sure you’ll be able to greatly improve your video if you have a good camera make it look better by making sure that you light your scene
