this is Stephanie Kelly I’m A correspondent with Reuters and I’m here today on Election Day in Western North Carolina over about a month ago hurricane Helen ended up devastating this area and even now you’ll see all over across the area there’s still trees down uh wires down a lot of construction crews in place to try to help this area recover and that brings us to election day and you’ll see right behind me there’s a temporary voting structure put in place um along a very remote Highway in area up in the mountains where people have been cut off because of Helen but the State Board of Elections wanted to erect areas and structures like this so that people could have access to voting today even if they had been kind of devastated by the hurricane over the last month there’s a pretty steady trickle of Voters coming in even you know all the way up in the mountains here
