I’m here in Fort Pierce Florida 2 days after Hurricane Milton tortured the state this commun is on Florida’s East Coast which is the opposite side of the state from where the storm made landfall but still this community suffered some remarkable damages and saw six fatalities and that’s because tornadoes that spawned off of hurricane Milton tore through this area when the Storm Center was still hundreds of miles away it’s not uncommon for tornadoes to spawn off of hurricanes but still the State of Florida issued 120 tornado warnings on Wednesday and that was a state record behind me are the remnants of a gas station I also went to a Methodist Church where a large portion of the roof was ripped off by a tornado I spoke with residents here who have lived through many hurricanes but they described the tornadoes as something totally different one woman told me that it was like a freight train was passing over her house when the tornado came through and another neighbor said that she made a makeshift shelter in her closet and she described it as the scariest moment of her life and said that she really thought that she was going to die even the sheriff’s office here was hit by a tornado and it destroyed a large iron structure that was actually hurricane proof the sheriff here told me that this was a violent vicious Act of Nature and said that they’re still doing search and rescue missions in this area
