Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is under increasing pressure to accept the CES far deal with Hamas to secure the release of hostages held in Gaza Israelis have been holding large labor strikes after the bodies of six hostages were found in a tunnel in the Gaza Strip civil servants at several Ministries stayed at home or went out to protest while many post offices and Bank branches were closed and University lectures cancelled the country’s main airport benan also suspended flights for a short time this morning the government took legal action to try to stop the strikes from spreading and a court ordered them to end hundreds of thousands of Israelis demonstrated in cities across the country on Sunday and what appeared to be the largest protest since the October 7 Hamas attack both the protests and the strikes reflect deep anger at Netanyahu who critics say is prolonging the war rather than prioritizing the safe return of the remaining hostages Netanyahu has defended his stance as necessary to ensure that Hamas don’t use a truce to rearm regroup and write out the Israeli campaign against them government officials have warned that should Hamas endure it could spell out more hostage taking in the future
