we are living in the decade of the female lawyer that’s according to the American Bar Association which this week released a new report detailing the steady rise of women in the US legal profession according to the ABA Back in 1970 only 9% of law students were women by 2016 women outnumbered men in law school for the very first time and today 56% of US law students are female the larger trend is that the attorneys that are retiring are largely male and the attorneys that are coming in are majority female we’re seeing that Trend play out in US law firms where in 2023 for the very first time female Associates outnumbered male Associates now the upper echelons of the profession remain predominantly male only 28% of Law Firm partners are women and women are about onethird of all federal judges but those numbers should continue to climb as we see more and more women enter the profession
