Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has resigned bowing to pressure from within his Liberal Party he had faced disastrous polling results for about a year and a half but the final blow came when his Finance Minister Christia Freeland publicly resigned on December 16th saying that he had failed to keep the fiscal powder dry ahead of a trump presidency his resignation on Monday will kick off a liberal leadership race with the winner becoming prime minister however they may not hold that title for long Trudeau has suspended Parliament until March 24th at which point a confidence vote would likely be held and all the main opposition parties in the House of Commons have promised to bring his government down with that vote that would trigger an election with a possible election day toward the end of April or in early May major issues in Canada include the economy and the cost of living with opposition conservative leader Pierre PV about 20 points ahead in the polls
