Music labels’ AI lawsuits create new copyright puzzle πŸ˜‡

so these two AI music startups called sunno and yudo have gotten a lot of Buzz lately for being able to create music and lyrics based on Simple Text prompts they’ve prompted lawsuits from the major record labels Warner Music Sony Music Universal Music Group over the alleged use of their recordings by musicians ranging from ABBA to Bruce Springsteen uh allegedly without permission to train the systems uh these are similar to lawsuits that have already been filed by authors news outlets and others against companies including open AI over AI chatbots all these cases will raise novel and interesting issues but the presence of Music in these cases makes the new ones a little bit more complicated
