the world’s nations are in Busan South Korea working on the first treaty to address the global plastic pollution crisis I’m here at the bexco convention center where the negotiations are taking place in addition to National delegations representatives from the Plastics industry environmentalists scientists indigenous leaders and others are here to shape how the world tackles the surging problem the meeting is plastic free attendees brought their own reusable water bottles from home outside the convention center there’s artwork to show the impact of plastic pollution in the oceans environmental organizations have demonstrated with signs outside demanding that negotiators show courage not compromise National delegations still have a lot to hammer out before there’s a treaty most contentious is whether the treaty will limit how much plastic companies can produce the United Nations wants negotiators to reach an agreement in Busan the meeting ends by Monday morning and many countries say now is the time to put an end to plastic pollution for the health of people and the planet
