As the night gave way to the dawn, our group of hikers set out to capture the breathtaking view from Tom, Dick & Harry Mountain, overlooking Wy’East and Mirror Lake. Located in the heart of Oregon, USA, this spot is a photographer’s paradise, with the majestic Mount Hood looming large in the distance.

As we ascended the mountain, the darkness slowly receded, revealing the outline of the mountainous landscape. The sky was a deep shade of indigo, with the first hints of pink and orange creeping in from the horizon. We knew we were in for a treat, as the sun was due to rise in the next 30 minutes, casting a golden glow over the landscape.

Upon reaching the summit, we were struck by the sheer scale of the mountains. Wy’East, the easternmost mountain, stood tall and proud, its rugged peaks and valleys a testament to the region’s geological history. Mirror Lake, nestled in the valley below, was a tranquil oasis, its calm waters reflecting the surrounding peaks like a mirrored glass.

As the sun began its ascent, the sky transformed into a kaleidoscope of colors – shades of red, orange, and pink dancing across the horizon. The light was soft and warm, bathing the landscape in a gentle glow. The rugged peaks of Wy’East and Mount Hood were set ablaze, their snow-capped summits glistening like diamonds in the growing light.

We spent the next 30 minutes capturing the breathtaking views from various vantage points, experimenting with composition and lighting to best showcase the dramatic landscape. The camera settings were as follows: 4000×5000 pixels, f/5.6, 1/125s, ISO 100. This allowed us to capture the vibrant colors and textures of the mountains, while also maintaining a sharp focus.

As the sun continued its climb, the light became more intense, casting deep shadows across the landscape. The mountainside was awash with a rich, golden light, as if the very rocks themselves were glowing. This was the perfect moment to capture the essence of this breathtaking scene, with the camera recording every detail with precision and clarity.

After an hour of shooting, we reluctantly descended the mountain, our cameras filled with unforgettable images of Wy’East and Mirror Lake at dawn. The experience had been nothing short of mesmerizing, with the combination of towering mountains, serene lake, and breathtaking sunrises creating a truly unforgettable experience. Tom, Dick & Harry Mountain, Oregon, will forever hold a special place in our hearts and cameras, as a testament to the region’s natural beauty and the magic that can be captured at dawn.
