they would dip the fur into a vat of mercury nitrate with their bare hands this helped to shape it into a hat but as they worked the chemicals would get absorbed through the skin over time the Mercury built up in their bodies and soon their hands would start to shake after that they would become forgetful and have mood swings and eventually they would start to hallucinate becoming known as Mad Hatters
