in Siberia during winter when the temperature drops to -40° people go to the middle of the river with a hammer then they pound the ice with the hammer and break it open Siberians do this because the fish are trapped beneath the ice when the ice is broken the fish which are not frozen but suffering from lack of oxygen come to the surface the people then catch these fish and sell them in the markets
