air accident investigators in South Korea are focusing on a bird strike a medal and a land gear malfunction to see if any of these played a part in the country’s worst ever civil aviation disaster on Sunday investigators have been able to recover the black boxes the flight data recorder and the cockpit voice recorder these hold crucial pieces of evidence in order for the investigators to try and piece together what happened to this jet liner authorities are focusing at the moment on a bird strike to see if it took down the aircraft but it’s very rare for a jetliner to be brought down by a bird strike alone and they are trying to assess whether a Cascade of events may have caused this accident whether it could be from the Pilot’s reaction responses to anything else related to the bir strike that impacted the aircraft’s performance the type of aircraft involved in the crash this Boeing 737-800 aircraft is a widely used plane there are over 4,000 of these in service at the moment and this kind of Crash is very rare and this comes off the back of 2023 being one of the most safest years in aviation ever investigators will be looking at why the landing gears didn’t deploy as normal as video of the crash showed the plane bely sliding at high speed on the runway and off hitting a wall causing the devastating number of casualties
