Sports psychology explained πŸ˜‹

video
play-rounded-fill

my name is Andrea Becker and I’m the sports psychology coach for the US men’s volleyball team I think volleyball is unique in that it requires a high level of cohesiveness in order to execute the tasks that are required to succeed whereas in many other Olympic sports you may be performing completely on your own or you may be performing side by side to your teammates but not have the same level of cohesiveness required to execute the tasks as a team I try to figure out what the team needs and meet their needs in the moment and in the context that we’re in in that at that period of time the coach is trying to communicate a message to one of the players and has had multiple meetings with that player and then the player isn’t necessarily executing what the coach is asking then I might sit down with the player to understand their perspective
