the American dream of owning a home is a struggle for many middle class and firsttime home buyers it’s especially a problem in Montgomery Chester and Bucks count is outside Philadelphia which saw the largest drop in inventory since 2016 of any Metropolitan Division xavor Wy a 35-year-old father or three from Westchester describes his years long struggle to buy a home for his family who could afford it’s ridiculous people are paying 30,000 over asking price or going the inspections you’re going into the houses that people are just trying to flip just to make a dollar off of they put $10,000 in the house and then charging you $50,000 over the price um just not a fair market for people trying to make their way trying to provide for their families um just trying to give everyone a safe place to stay we want we moved into this house in April of 2024 we started looking I want to say April of 2020 so it’s been a long process and I did not think it was going to happen at all but we ended up getting lucky and it did but all in all my family’s happy we all have more space um I don’t quite got a pick a fence with the big yard but it’s on its way I got a little yard and it’s a chain link fence but nonetheless my kids are happy the family’s happy um and we actually have a chance to build equity and I have something that I can look forward to paying off and passing down to them and we can kind of grow our wealth as a family
