according to Bloomberg’s reporting Donald Trump’s transition team is preparing to name a treasury secretary and that person will be Scott bessent the hedge fund manager of key Square group we of course understood that Trump’s allies had been pushing uh for Besson internally but he’d been jockeying with a few other candidates for this position but Bloomberg’s reporting is indicating that the Trump transition team will announce that they have selected Scott bessent to be the next US Secretary of the Treasury according to people familiar with the matter the announcement formally is expected to be made as soon as today Joe we spent time at this table with Scott bessent talking about the veracity of tariffs combined with tax cuts equaling growth he’s been very effective at making that argument he took that uh to paper in the Wall Street Journal in a way that apparently impressed Donald Trump but it’s fascinating the the grinding gears that we’ve been witnessing over the past couple of days knowing that he was leading the charge in this hunt only he be bogged down by new names and extra interviews but apparently Donald Trump is ending this deliberation roughly where he began it
