Ryan Ralph made his first appearance in court today on charges related to what the FBI is calling an attempted assassination on Sunday of former president Donald Trump at Trump’s golf course near here in West Palm Beach Ralph is facing two charges neither one directly related to an assassination attempt one is possession of a firearm by a convicted felon that relates to something he did about 20 years ago where he had a standoff with police in North Carolina and a possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number he is facing a combine 20 years in prison if and convicted on both of those before the hearing today Ralph sat with his public defender he chatted he smiled he laughed he did not look like somebody who is facing some very serious felony charges next week there will be a bond hearing for him where they will determine whether he can be released prior to going to trial and then the week after that depending on whether the federal government gets an indictment there will either be an arraignment or a probable cause hearing
