Google could be broken up as us Regulators weigh their options to stop it monopolizing search the justice department could now ask a federal judge to force Google to sell off parts of its business Regulators want to stop the company from using dominant products such as Chrome Android and play to gain an unfair advantage over the competition Google could also be ordered to provide access to the underlying data behind search results and its AI products all of this follows a landmark antitrust ruling in August which found that Google had monopolized the online search Market but alphabet and Google’s CEO Sund Pai has played down suggestions that the company’s competition battles pose an immediate threat we definitely disagree with the ruling but we still in the middle of the the remedy phase and you know we will appeal and this process will likely take many years and you know uh I’m confident given that uh you know we are focused on innovating uh using technology uh will do well in the long run but Google is facing competition claims on multiple fronts a different federal judge has ordered to open up its app store for the next 3 years to resolve a separate antitrust suits brought by epic games Google says it will appeal that decision another antitrust suit focuses on Google’s ad technology antitrust enforcers have said they plan to seek to force the company to sell off parts of its ad Tech business as if the court finds Google has monopolized that market too
