here outside of Kolkata in West Bengal
State we’re looking at the impacts of
climate change along the Bay of Bengal
where nearly 1.4 billion people live we
started on the Indian East Coast in the
state of odisha where small fishing
villages are seeing their way of life
vanish the centuries old practice of
traditional fishing is going extinct the
Bay of Bengal with increasing ferocity
of cyclones and high tidal surges is
eating these small fishing villages
block by block dest destroying their
homes destroying the livelihoods of
those that live there in Kolkata the
capital of West Bengal state which is
also in India we met climate refugees
that have fled the low-lying Sunder buns
in Northeast Sri Lanka I photograph
farmers who are struggling with trout
and inconsistent monsoons it is severely
affecting their rice crop and the health
of their livestock herds one farmer said
they used to be able to predict the
start of the monsoon down to the hour
now they aren’t sure if it will come at
all
