Ireland now has no listed female CEOs on
its Stock Exchange according to our
analysis that means it’s the only
country in the EU by the small state of
Luxembourg to have no women at the top
of listed companies that’s a blow for
Ireland because it’s basically become
known as this kind of poster child for
social progress in recent decades that’s
thanks to a rapid period of economic
growth called the Celtic tiger and also
the decline in influence of the Catholic
church but but really this is about the
bigger picture which is not much better
across the whole of Europe even though
Ireland might have zero CEOs most other
EU countries have a handful while we
might be seeing some improvements for
example more women are coming onto the
boards of companies such as at CFO level
what this shows us is that the glass
ceiling right at the top of corporate
Europe has not yet been smashed
